In 1995, at Blue Springs High School, Nick scored 16 goals and had 12 assists in leading the Wildcats to a 3rd Place finish in the Missouri Class 4A Soccer State Championship. He scored 20 goals with 16 assists for 56 career points. He received recognitions for All-Conference, All-District, and All-Metro. Nick was heavily recruited by college soccer programs across the country.
In 1996, Nick attended NCAA Division I Missouri State University (Formerly Southwest Missouri State). During his tenure, Missouri State was ranked within The NCAA Division I Top 25 for 3 years and posted a 55-19-7 record.

In 1997, as a starter, Nick helped Missouri State reach its first NCAA Division I Tournament game, which resulted in a 0-2 loss at #14 ranked Saint Louis University. The Bears were Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season Champions. Nick received The Missouri State University Men’s Soccer Most Improved Player Award.
In the summer of 1998, Nick played in the Premier Development League for The Sioux City Breeze. He played injured all of the 1998 season at Missouri State.
In 1999, Missouri State produced a 17-0-3 undefeated streak while ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation along with also spending 8 weeks ranked in the top 10. Nick helped Missouri State reach its second NCAA Division I Tournament game, which resulted in a 1-2 loss at #16 ranked University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). The Bears were Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champions. Nick finished his Missouri State career with 7 goals and 15 assists in 55 starts as a holding, central midfielder.
Nick has a Missouri youth soccer coaching license.
